Fragment of a Krater
Attributed to the Konnakis Group
about 350-340 B.C.
The lower half of a draped, standing figure is incised directly on the black ground. To judge by the previous vase (cat. no. 108), the absence of added white should indicate a male. His right leg is bent, as though he were leaning or walking to the right. The two rounded areas at the front of the waist are the concealed hands, from which th himation hangs in folds terminating in small weights.
For similar incised figures, see the comments on cat. no. 108; this vase too may have been a calyx-krater.
