DescriptionThis pyxis depicts women doing domestic chores. They stand in pairs around the exterior. The first pair is a woman tightly wrapped in her robe (himation), sitting on a stool, and another who faces her and pulls at her dress (chiton). The second pair consists of two standing women, one wrapped in her robe, and the other offers her what may be a ball of wool. The last pair shows two women facing each other over a basket of wool. the one on the left reaches forth with another possible ball of wool, and the other pulls wool from the basket. Fillets and wreaths hang in the background.
