DescriptionStatuette of Athena Promachos. Spear (in right hand), shield (on left) and crest of helmet, also cast separately, missing. Athena stands on a rectangular, two-part base. She wears an ample aegis over the long overfold of her chiton.
ProvenanceAccording to the acquisition paperwork the bronze was found in Minorca prior to 1883; since that time it has been in Ramis y Ramis Collection, Minorca, and Vivès Collection, Madrid; by date unknown: with Elie Borowski, 25 Admiral Road, Toronto, Ontario, Canada; purchased by MFA from Elie Borowski, April 8, 1954, for $ 3,000.00
