DescriptionThis small horse stands at attention, with ears pricked forward. In typical Geometric fashion, the animal's shape is reduced to contours: his curving neck and upper legs contrast with a thin tail, legs, and stomach. His neck and legs are further decorated with linear incisions. He stands firmly on his base, secured to it with all four feet and the tip of the tail. The base has triangular cutouts.
ProvenanceBy 1965: with a dealer in Athens (said to come from near Elis); purchased by MFA, November 10, 1965
