DescriptionStatuette of a nude Aphrodite and a goose on a high molded plinth. Aphrodite is standing having her weight on the right leg and the left is placed a little to the back; She is holding out her himation behind her with both hands. Two strings of round disks are crossed between breasts. She wears a stephane with a scalloped edge and a radiated outer segment. Pink and blue on modius; red on hair; traces of cream color on the body of Aphrodite, and the goose; red on the base. The front of the base largely restored.

ProvenanceSaid to be from Myrina, Turkey. Possibly, Gregorios Bernardakis (d. 1848 - d. 1925), Lesbos. Before 1901, Metaxas collection, Athens [see note]. By 1901, Edward Perry Warren (b. 1860 - d. 1928), London; 1901, sold by Warren to the MFA. (Accession date: December 1, 1901)
