DescriptionSeated Aphrodite wearing a characteristic high kalathos-shaped polos and holding her breasts in the manner of Cypriot Aphrodite-Astarte figures. She rests her feet on a footstool.
ProvenanceBetween 1865-1872, probably excavated in Cyprus by General Luigi Palma di Cesnola (b. 1832 - d. 1904); 1872, sold by General di Cesnola to the MFA for $1,704.39 [see note]. (Accession date: May 15, 1872)
