DescriptionBowl. On three sides the rim projects slightly to form horizontal handles. On the fourth side is a spout. Flattened at the bottom. Brown and café au lait color. Intact. Material: first called alabaster, changed to banded tufa. R. Newman, 4/25/94: calcite, banded limestone, could be called travertine.
Provenance1908, excavated at the cemetery of Mochlos, Crete, by Richard Berry Seager (b. 1882 - d. 1925), acquired in the division of finds, and shipped to the MFA [see note]. (Accession Date: January 14, 1909)
