DescriptionCondition: The monument has been mutilated on top and bottom, with a scrape running diagonally through Hermes and additional chipping. What remains is fresh, retaining the original delicacy of carving.
Corners decorated with an astragal. Each side has recessed panel framed by a plain cymation on the upper three sides.
Side A: Hermes with wings at his ankles, wearing a chlaina and a wreath with fluttering ribbon, walks in front of a pillar. Side B: Dionysos wearing a long sleeve tunic, nebris and mantle carries a thyrsos and drinking horn. Side C: Artemis wearing a peplos, belted chiton with long overfold, and a quiver, carries two bows and a torch.
Scientific Analysis:
Isotope ratios - delta13C +1.879 / delta18O -1.729, Attribution - Carrara, Justification (Petrographic Analysis) - maximum grain size (0.6 mm), Mg present.
