DescriptionHead and bust of the sitter are shown against a dark background, nearly full front, his right shoulder toward the viewer, his head turned right, nearly full front. Sitter has a dark complexion, dark eyes, heavy eyebrows, and a large nose. He wears a large brown wig falling to his shoulders; a purplish-rose robe lined with blue; a ruffled shirt; and a long scarf tied once with plain ends falling on either side of the ruffles of his shirt. His right hand is held against his body, the open hand held against his robe. In original carved and gilded frame of red pine or Scots pine (pinus sylvestris)
