InscriptionsOn the front: "To please both nayikas, the cunning nayaka held two shining and beautiful jewels in the palms of his hands. He gave one to the elder and, on the pretext of handing the second to the other, he enjoyed the touch of her breast.".

[1] According to notes in the MFA curatorial file, this painting is "said to have been in a private collection in Europe and then in a collection in the U.S." It comes from a large Rasamanjari manuscript, which was dispersed no later than the 1960s; other leaves from this series are in private collections and museums.
