ProvenanceJuly 27, 1938, sold in Paris by Maurice Nahman (dealer; b. 1868 - d. 1948) to the Brummer Gallery, New York (stock no. P15036); May 11, 1949, Brummer sale, Parke-Bernet Galleries, New York, part of lot 50 [see note], sold to the MFA. (Accession Date: May 1, 1949)

NOTE: Lot 50 included six bronze and carved wood implements; this is described as "heart-shaped peg from a musical instrument."
