DescriptionThis lid for a canopic jar is carved of travertine (Egyptian alabaster) with highly polished top surface. It is of oval/domed shape. The outer edges exhibit some chipping.

This lid may fit object 21.449 or 21.450.
ProvenanceFrom Deir el-Bersha. 1915: excavated by the Harvard University–Boston Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA in the division of finds by the government of Egypt.
