DescriptionThis model headrest is carved of travertine (Egyptian alabaster), made in three sections and cemented together with plaster. The stone is moderately smoothed. The crescent shaped rest element is not symmetrical. The central post has dark brown staining.
ProvenanceFrom Deir el-Bersha, tomb 10, shaft A (tomb of Djehutynakht). May 1915: excavated by the Harvard University–Boston Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA in the division of finds by the government of Egypt. (Accession Date: March 1, 1921)
