DescriptionThis model headrest is carved of travertine (Egyptian alabaster), made in three sections and originally cemented together with plaster. The plaster not having held, the three components are now glued together. The rest element has a nearly flat top surface.
ProvenanceFrom Deir el-Bersha, tomb 19, shaft B (tomb of Djehutynakht). May 1915: excavated by the Harvard University–Boston Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA in the division of finds by the government of Egypt. (Accession Date: March 1, 1921)
