DescriptionThis is a fragment of a coffin inscribed for a woman named Satmeket. The interior side carries two lines of colored hieroglyphic text at the top and twenty-four columns of inked inscription below. The exterior side has a single row of incised inscription in three fragments that exhibit substantial insect damage.
ProvenanceFrom Deir el-Bersha, tomb of Djehutynakht, tomb 10, shaft B. May 1915: Excavated by the Harvard University-Boston Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA in the division of finds by the government of Egypt. 1921: received by the MFA. (Accession Date: March 1, 1921)
