DescriptionThis object is a wooden canopic jar lid carved in the shape of a human head. It is covered in plaster and painted. The wig, beard and eyebrows are painted black. The face is yellow and the eyes white. The nose is missing. The face is somewhat damaged, most notably with large vertical gashes.
ProvenanceFrom Deir el-Bersha, tomb 13, shaft A. May 1915: excavated by the Harvard University–Boston Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA in the division of finds by the government of Egypt. (Accession Date: March 1, 1921)
