DescriptionThis canopic jar is made of cartonnage(plaster-soaked linen) is fashioned in the shape of a human head. Due to decay, a large portion of the face is missing; however, parts of the wig and the broad collar are still visible. The wig was originally painted blue but has faded to green; the collar is painted in blue, red, black, and yellow.
ProvenanceFrom Deir el-Bersha, Pit 10A. 1915: excavated by the Harvard University–Boston Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA in the division of finds by the government of Egypt.
