DescriptionThis rectangular gold plaque would have been included as part of the trappings of a royal mummy. It was likely attached or included within mummy wrappings as a protective measure, as a wedjat eye (a symbol of protection), is incribed on one side.
ProvenanceFrom Nuri, Tomb of Queen Malenra (Pyramid 22). 1917: excavated by the Harvard University–Boston Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA in the division of finds by the government of Sudan. (Accession Date: March 1, 1920)
