DescriptionThis limestone canopic jar and lid are carved of fine white limestone with fairly well smoothed surfaces. The jar has a wide base, almost straight and slightly flaring sides that culminate in very slight shoulders and a rolled rim. The lid is disc shaped, characteristic of the Old Kingdom. There are small areas of discoloration in the stone. A few small chips appear, but otherwise the jar and lid are in very good condition.
ProvenanceFrom Giza G 2360 A, chamber 4. 1912: excavated by the Harvard University–Boston Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA in the division of finds by the government of Egypt.
