DescriptionThese fragments of a large sarcophagus lid of greywacke have been restored to indicate the shape of the original. Surfaces are very well smoothed and details well modelled. The anthropoid shape depicts a figure with a tripartite wig and (restored) false beard with fairly rounded features.
ProvenanceAbout 1835: collected in Egypt by John Lowell, Jr.; 1875: given to the MFA by John A. Lowell and Miss Lowell. (Accession Date: March 18, 1875)
