DescriptionThis is the inner anthropoid coffin box for an individual named Bes. Covered with gesso and painted dark brown, it is in good condition with generally minor losses. One large chip is missing from right side of head area. The sides of the coffin flare out slightly at the top, and slgiht curves of the sides indicate knees and ankles. Three narrow holes in each long side and two holes in the sides at the head end were made to receive tangs of the coffin's lid.
