DescriptionThis is the face component of an anthropoid coffin of plastered & painted wood. The face is painted painted yellow, the eyes white, details in greenish black. An elaborate headdress is painted with yellow, white, greenish-black, and red lines.
A false beard has been carved separately and attached with a tang into the chin of the face. It is painted with a "v"-pattern in black lines to indicate plaiting.
There is significant chipping of the surface paint and plaster applications.
