DescriptionThis amulet of brilliant, deep blue faience represents the solar god Re-Horakhty in the form of a falcon. Although Egypt had numerous falcon deities, this one is probably identifiable as Re-Horakhty because he wears the triple atef crown and sun disk. Such amulets were intended to help guarantee rebirth in the afterlife. A loop on the back of the head allowed the amulet to be worn on a string. The front of the base is broken.
