DescriptionThis face component of a wooden coffin depicts the head of a man. The wood is plastered and painted. The face is painted a dark reddish-brown with eyes black with blue outline. Much paint has flaked off. The top portion of the head is missing and shows evidence of insect damage.
ProvenanceFrom Abydos, tomb D 115. 1901: excavated by William Matthew Flinders Petrie for the Egypt Exploration Fund, assigned to the Egypt Exploration Fund in the division of finds by the government of Egypt, received by the MFA through subscription to the Egypt Exploration Fund.
