DescriptionThese fragments of ivory or bone are parts of gaming pieces. They are badly cracked and discolored/blackened, and some fragments are missing. The original form suggested by the pieces is cylindrical to plumb bob/conical shaped with a flaring knob at one end.
ProvenanceFrom Abydos, tomb of Djer. 1901: excavated by William Matthew Flinders Petrie for the Egypt Exploration Fund; assigned to the Egypt Exploration Fund in the division of finds by the government of Egypt; received by the MFA through subscription to the Egypt Exploration Fund.
