DescriptionThis cartonnage (painted, plaster-soaked linen) panel was part of mummy's trappings. The depicted figure is a kneeling, winged goddess with a sun disk atop her head and arms outstretched to spread her wings. Detailign of the wings is rednered as rosettes, dots, and stripes. Its present condition: the color is highly degraded with generally faint traces of painted detail (yellow, blue, and possibly white) amid heavy wear and brown discoloration. There are several tears and loose fragments.
ProvenanceFrom Abydos. 1902: excavated by William Matthew Flinders Petrie for the Egypt Exploration Fund, assigned to the Egypt Exploration Fund in the division of finds by the government o Egypt, received by the MFA through subscription to the Egypt Exploration Fund.
