DescriptionThis face comes from the wooden coffin of a woman. The wood is plastered thinly and painted. The face is yellow with black around the eyes and on the eyebrows. The head carries black stripes for hair. There are remnants of three pegs on the back for attachment to the main coffin. The object shows signs of insect damage.
ProvenanceFrom Abydos, tomb D 115. 1901: excavated by William Matthew Flinders Petrie for the Egypt Exploration Fund, assigned to the Egypt Exploration Fund in the division of finds by the government of Egypt, received by the MFA through subscription to the Egypt Exploration Fund.
