DescriptionThis pottery mummy mask is formed of clay fired red and black. Modelling of facial features show variable degrees of smoothness. The face is painted yellow with black hair with yellow bands. The right portion of the face has broken off, and there are sizable fragments missing from several areas of the head. The nose is also chipped.
ProvenanceFrom Abydos, tomb D 115. 1901: excavated by William Matthew Flinders Petrie for the Egypt Exploration Fund, assigned to the Egypt Exploration Fund in the division of finds by the government of Egypt, received by the MFA through subscription to the Egypt Exploration Fund.
