DescriptionThis is a finely carved wooden statuette depicting an Egyptian official in a standard, striding pose with left leg advanced. He wears calf-length pleated kilt. Traces of black and white paint remain. Carved rectular pegs below the statuette's feet provide attachment points for slotting into its rectangular base.
ProvenanceFrom Asyut, tomb 7 (tomb of Nakht). 1903: excavated by Emile Gaston Chassinat and Charles Palanque for the Institut francais d'archeologie orientale, Cairo; 1904: purchased for the MFA by Albert M. Lythgoe.
