DescriptionThis limestone canopic jar lid takes the form of a human head, representing Imsety, one of the Four Sons of Horus, protectors of the viscera of the deceased. The jar to which this lid belongs (object 03.1130a) carries an inscription to the goddess Isis, who is associated directly with Imsety. Black painted details have been applied to the eyes and eyebrows.
