DescriptionWooden panel from the side of a chair; decoration carved in raised relief depicting on one side King Thutmose IV as a sphinx trampling foreign enemies; on the opposite side the king is shown seated, flanked by the deities Weret-hekau and Thoth.
ProvenanceFrom Thebes, Valley of the Kings, tomb of Thutmose IV (KV 43). 1902: excavated by Theodore M. Davis in the Valley of the Kings, directed by Howard Carter; assigned to Theodore M. Davis by the government of Egypt; 1903: given to the MFA by Theodore M. Davis.
