DescriptionCanopic Jar of fine limestone; lid in the shape of human head (likely the deity Imsety) with traces of black paint on hair and face and blue paint on beard; four vertical rows of hieroglyphic text on front indicate the jar belonged to Prince Amenemhat.
ProvenanceFrom Thebes, Valley of the Kings, tomb of Thutmose IV (KV 43). 1902: excavated by Theodore M. Davis in the Valley of the Kings, directed by Howard Carter; assigned to Theodore M. Davis by the government of Egypt; 1903: given to the MFA by Theodore M. Davis.
