Provenance14th century, Mu Lin (b. 1345 - d. 1392), Prince of Ch'ien-ning. Juan Yuan (b. 1764 - d. 1849). By about 1900, Wanyan Jingxian (d. by 1928), Beijing [see note 1];1912, sold by Wanyan Jingxian to Okakura Kakuzo (b. 1862 - d. 1913) for the MFA. (Accession Date: September 5, 1912)

[1] According to a statement in his own painting catalogue, Wanyan Jingxian lost this object (part of an album, MFA accession nos. 12.889 - 12.901) during the Boxer Rebellion, but recovered it shortly thereafter.
