DescriptionCap for a dervish; consisting of four joined sections of fulled woolen cloth. The upper two-thirds of each section is embroidered with floral motifs and the lower one-third with cartouches enclosing inscriptions. The inscriptions in each of the four sections differ. One cartouche contains the date H. 1242. The embroidery is executed in light blue and yellow silk on a taupe ground. An interlining of printed cotton is visible through moth holes in the fabric. The cap is lined with black wool. Condition: scattered moth damage.
