DescriptionWhite cotton empire-style dress with drawstring neckline, puffed sleeves with white satin ribbon tie; trained skirt. White cotton floral embroidery. Worn by Sarah Bowdoin (1761-1826), wife of Hon. James Bowdoin (1752-1811), U.S. Minister to Spain and Associate Minister to France, ca. 1801-1809.
Condition: Good. A few brown spots, concentrated mainly at back.
