Catalogue Raisonné
Berlin 3581; Jean-Richard (Boucher), cat. nos. 216-222, 1090-1097
Description(Paris: Le Père et Avaulez [1772-1779]) Folio; 14 leaves; modern gilt-stamped marbled gray morocco.
Designs for elaborate fountains. Two sets of designs for elaborate fountains drawn by Boucher, first published by Huquier in 1736. The first set of seven plates is attributed to Huquier as engraver (Jean-Richard 1090-97); the second is signed by Aveline (Jean-Richard 216-22). Both were first published by Huquier, but the title plates to the MFA sets carry the imprint of Le Père and Avaulez, who were in partnership from 1772 to 1779. The remaining plates still carry the Huquier imprint (this is consistent with the description of the Rothschild copy described by Jean-Richard).
