DescriptionCrimson silk satin ground brocaded with design named "Les Colombes" of morning glories forming trellises from which hand floral baskets alternating with rings in which sit a pair of doves. Some piecing and wear. Weaving workshop of Camille Pernon. Design by Phillippe de la Salle (1723-1805).
ProvenanceCommissioned by Catherine II Empress of Russia for her summer home near Leningrad, Tsarskoe Selo; removed about 1917; sold by Soviet government; purchased by the MFA, Boston from Loewi-Robertson, June 13, 1984.
