DescriptionPainted vellum leaf. Obverse: Revolution of 1820, Rafael del Riego and Antonio Quiroga in chariot led by Law ("La Ley"), peasants greeting them with Spanish flag inscribed "Vivan las Cortes" (long live the parliament) and shouting "Viva Riego" and "Viva Quiroga"; gilt and painted floral and decorative motifs at sides and borders. Reverse: three gilt floral sprays and scrollwork. Ivory sticks with painte pastoral scene, painted and gilt-silver details on blades; mother-of-pearl guards with gilt-silver details (mostly missing). Possibly French for Spanish market.
