DescriptionCotton, copperplate printed in brown. One selvedge, some tears. Design shows pyramids, obelisks, fortresses, pylons, sphinxes, camels and Egyptian figures dressed as philosophers against a ground of squares. "Derived from plates in the Description de l'Egypte commissioned in 1809 by the emperor from the French Instite at Cairo" (in Musee des Arts Decoratifs, Paris)
