DescriptionThis scarab, once in the Textile and Fashion Arts Department, is mounted in a gold cravat setting (broken pin). The scarab is unique in that the beetle is raised on its base, probably in imitation of scarab made of precious metal. the back is fined carved with a double line separating the prothorax from the elytra. The latter are separated by three vertical lines. The bilaterally symmetrical base design consists of a central sema hieroglyph, papyrus blossoms and a double-lined, woven pattern.
