Marks Verso, in black, the mark of the Waldburg Wolfegg'sches Kupferstichkabinett (Lugt 2542)
ProvenanceWaldburg Wolfegg'sches Kupferstichkabinett (Lugt 2542). May 14 - 15, 1934, anonymous sale (but probably consigned by Wolfegg), C. G. Boerner, Leipzig, lot 509 [see note 1], to P. and D. Colnaghi, London, for RM 300 [see note 2]; 1934, sold by Colnaghi to the MFA. (Accession Date: October 4, 1934)

NOTE 1: This print was illustrated on plate 25 of the catalogue.

NOTE 2: The Museum frequently employed Colnaghi as an agent at European auctions in the early 1930s. It is not certain whether Colnaghi purchased this work at the behest of the MFA, or on the firm's own accord. When acquired in October 1934, the print was part of a larger group that included works of both sorts.
