DescriptionDarning or running stitch sampler. White linen ground with polychrome silk yarns. Central square compartment with a cross-like motif in the center. At each outer corner of the compartment is a stylized floral motif. Flanking this area the initials "MK" and "AB". Surrounding this are several similar cross motives in geometric and linear patterns. A crown repeats in the upper right and lower left corners, the former above the initials "CN", the latter above "Oud 16"(Age 16). The date appears below the central compartment.
Slightly soiled; one corner restored. See: 43.956, 43.953, 46.747, and 43.954. Stitches: cross, pattern darning, simple darning.
