DescriptionDarning or running stitch sampler. Across the top are the alphabet and the numbers 1-10. Beneath this are rows of rectangular bands having geometric and linear motives, some intersecting at right angles to form crosses. A narrow band runs horizontally across the field with the inscription "M*ADRIANBNSSBNS*1838*DBN---" Border on two sides of a simple leafy vine. Slightly soiled and stained. Stitches: cross, pattern darning, simple darning.
