DescriptionCream-colored ribbed and watered silk, showing a polychrome chiné pattern of birds and branches. Full, loose cut, resembling an eighteenth-century robe battante, but with large puffed sleeves and a high collar. Small plastron pleated white silk trimmed with a violet velvet band. Front edges of gown, neck, shoulders, and cuffs trimmed with machine made lace. Petersham labeled: Swann/Newburgh. Soiled, especially around hem.
