DescriptionThis is a pietra dura brooch, probably from a Florentine workshop, depicting a white flower with a pink bud and broad leaves in two shades of olive green and olive green stem. The stones are inlaid in black hard stone and set vertically in a rectangular gilt metal frame with rounded corners. The mount is probably English.
On the back which is slightly rounded, there is an oval insert of hair under a crystal. Above the oval is an inscription written in script: "Mrs. G. (?) M. Potter, Obt. March 16, 1839." Underneath is an inscription of affection: "Notre foi éternise l' amitié."
The pin is placed on the horizontal bisecting the back.
