DescriptionPossibly for foot of bed. Polychrome wools, silks and metal threads worked primarily in Hungarian stitch with some fancy and laid work. Nobleman and his lady enact the five senses; also appropriate symbolic animals. From left to right: Sight, sound, smell, taste and touch. Variety of fauna, flora and archetectural motifs. Scalloped border at bottom of green wool. In top center are coats of arms of families from Memmingen/ Wurttemberg, Germany: dexter side Heinzel and sinister side Schorer.
