DescriptionProbably from a valance, Suppliant woman. Embroidered with polychrome crewels and silks in tent stitch on linen canvas ground. Foreground shows woman kneeling before another woman in what appears to be a garden. At left, stream runs throug middle ground and a group of figures stands before a turreted building. Various birds and flowers are shown. Figures in period costume of late 16th century. Condition good with a few repairs. Lining and edging later additions.
