DescriptionDark red velvet with dark magenta satin figured with polychrome silk and gold flowers, trimmed with bobbin lace. Bodice shaped and deeply pointed in front; flat, tapered round collar; full three-quarter length sleeves; scalloped bobbin lace around cuffs, collar and down front flanking laced brocade panel. Elaborately cut skirt of brocade, decorated with velvet puffs on hips, velvet panels down sides and separate long velvet and brocade train; wing-like motifs of gold, silver and black braid on panels and train. Stamped in gold on white tape in bodice: "E. Pingat / 30 Rue Louis-le-Grand. 30 / Paris." Condition good. Belonged to Lydia Williams Lyman (Mrs. Robert Treat Paine)
