DescriptionSquare panel for chair back; central group of trophies of the chase and framing flower-filled horns and swags brocaded with polychrome silks (now faded); background of center design in minute white checkerboard formed by floats of extra silk warp; background outside design area of light green twill formed by floats of extra silk wefts; four corners cut out; much faded, somewhat soiled, single black stain in center.
Design by Phlippe de LaSalle (French, 1723-1805) France, Lyon, weaving workshop of Camille Pernon Central trophy with bow and arrow-filled quiver, torch, and flowers with flower and fruit border brocaded with polychrome silk threads on ivory silk cannetille ground (warp float of over 3, under 1). Fabric outside border woven with light green supplementary silk threads bound in a twill pattern (over the ivory cannetille ground).
