Catalogue Raisonné Schneiderman (1983) 31, III; Harrington (1910) 28i
State 1st state
DescriptionHarrington catalogues the impression in the Dr. Frederick H. James Collection (AK) as measuring larger than 11.5 x 8 in, supposedly trimmed within the plate mark. However, this was incorrectly catalogued as it is an impression of state III on Chine collé mounted on wove paper; it was mistakenly measured at the blanket or second plate mark used to impress the India paper on the larger sheet.
Published in "A Selection of Etchings by the Etching Club," 1865, No. 12. Most impressions are in India or Chine collé on wove, though some are on thin laid paper. Additional drypoint work on branch at center right, and leaves are shaded (area approximately 70 mm. from bottom and 20 mm. from right).
